Youth U15s 2022-23 Season

The Tetbury Rugby U15s (Year 10 at School) play, boys single age rugby with a focus on inclusion, developing skills and enjoyment for all children, from beginners to experienced players.  Our U15 squad is currently merged with the Cirencester U15 squad as a Barbarians team to give more breadth and depth to the playing numbers.

The 2022-23 season starts on Sunday 4th September at 10:30am to midday at Sir William Romney School (SWR) (Tetbury, Gloucestershire GL8 8AE).  Mid-week training currently takes place on a Friday evening from 6.30-8.00pm.

The first 2 Sundays are free to all children (including previous members), players get the opportunity to see if they would like to join Tetbury Mini Rugby. For these training sessions, children are not obliged to wear the Tetbury Rugby kit. (See Kit Section below)

The first few weeks of the season will be consolidating past learning, building on the success of last season and developing new skills for the transition from U14s to U15s.  As the season progresses, we will then either play in matches, at home (SWR or Ciren) or away at other local clubs or play training sessions to further develop our skills.  We have entered into the Gloucestershire cup for the coming season which will see us play a number of competitive matches against other local clubs with the opportunity to progress out of the group stages if we are successful.

We are a friendly club welcoming club with a focus on inclusion, developing skills and enjoyment for all children. 

We have a great coaching team who are committed to helping players develop themselves as young people as well as Rugby players. As a club we organise regular home and away fixtures for all age groups.

Tetbury Rugby has a long tradition of being a Touring club with annual tours for U8s and over and team day trips out for the younger age groups. The U15s are no exception to this and towards the end of the Season, there will be an organised Tour for players, parents and coaches. Details of the Tour will be sent out by your Age Group administrator nearer the time.


Basic Rules for the U15s game:

• Boys single age Rugby
• Maximum 15 (boys) players on each side at a time
• 8 player scrum – Number 8 pick up and run
• Kicking at goal
• Lineout

Coaching

All our coaches are experienced, attend regular coaching to further develop their skills and to improve the training they offer the children. All are registered with the England Rugby Football Union and are DBS checked.

We are always on the lookout for more coaches and volunteers for the Café and Committee, which further enhances the whole Rugby experience at Tetbury, so, if you are interested, please let us know.

Signing Up / Membership

On Sunday 11th September we will be having a membership sign up alongside the usual training.

We will also have a membership table outside the SWR Leisure Centre on Sunday 4th September training session for signing up and answering any questions that you might have.

Clothing / Kit

As we are a merged squad we alternate kit for matches between Tetbury and Cirencester shirts. These are provided by the respective clubs.  All players wear a combined sock which represents the colours of both

 Players need to provide their own boots, shorts and mouth guards 

Location / Parking / Facilities

Training sessions are held either at Sir William Romney School (SWR) Tetbury, Gloucestershire GL8 8AE or at Cirencester Rugby Club, The Whiteway, Cirencester.

Full details of each Sunday’s plans will be provided each week via your Age Group administrator and updated weekly on the website home page, should for any reason training or matches be cancelled due to weather etc. this will be updated on the website, so please check.
